It's not easy to live a Jesus- and others-centered life in a me-centered culture. Here at the Reclaimed Life, we explore how God reclaims everything from pervasive cultural norms to the mundane moments of our lives for His purposes!
When Todd and I first got married, we inherited a couple of great dressers and a metal bed frame. So we didn’t bother to go shopping for a whole bedroom set – instead, we found a decent headboard on sale at Big Lots and called it a day.
But seven years (and four homes) later, we were ready for a change. Actually, we’ve been ready for a change for quite a while, but we just recently got around to actually making the change. The hardest part of this project was the shopping. But when it came to the assembly, we were probably done within two hours. And now we have a much comfier spot for reading (and blog-posting) before bed!
Here is the old wooden headboard
We had to fill in gaps in the headboard, so we cut up some particle board that was the same depth as the headboard.
Now it’s flat!
Just glue on some 2 inch foam (40% off at Hobby Lobby!)
And then wrap the fabric around and staple it to the back.
Ooohhh…. pretty fabric!
Ta-da!
Ahhh… ready for use.
(And yes, I am fully aware that my laptop cover matches my bedspread. I guess I’m kinda into blue and flowers.)
I have already started dreaming about a cool art project for the wall behind our bed… but that’s another project for another day!
